PURPOSE: A method for setting an ID of a CAN message in a vehicle is provided to provide an efficiency in CAN bus management, by providing a standard method of setting the ID of the CAN message. CONSTITUTION: According to the method for defining an ID of a CAN protocol message in a vehicle, a priority region determining priority as to a CAN message using a reference ID of 11 bits is defined as an ID of 5 bits, and a Rx filter of a region indicating a receiver node is defined as an ID of 6 bits. The priority region displays priority of a message according to a transmission period and a length of message data and the number of received signals.
