The system includes collection of information relating to a products origin, the logistical processes and the processes applied to the product or one of its constituents, and the attribution of a lot number to the product. This data is then stored for analysis and interpretation. The system is intended to enable retracing of the historical and logistical processes applied to a product - especially a food product and its components in the course of production, assembly and transformation. The procedure includes systems for collection of information relating to its origin, the logistical processes and the processes applied to the product or one of its constituents, and the attribution of a lot number to the product. This data is then stored and subject to expert analysis and interpretation. An alert may be produced as a result of this real-time analysis of the data collected. The data collection process may be achieved using a portable computer terminal, with all the processes being integrated within the one data collection computer system.
