PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which a level of an output terminal is quickly clamped to a prescribed level at start of driving an imaging device so as to quickly obtain an ordinary image. SOLUTION: When a synchronizing signal generating section 60a starts production of a horizontal synchronizing signal pulse HT at start of driving the imaging apparatus, a counter 60b counts the number of pulses. A clamp capability control section 60c raises a clamp mode signal to an H level when the count reaches a prescribed value. A clamp pulse generating section 60d generates a clamp pulse CP whose width is extended more than that in an ordinary state to extend an ON time of a switch element 52c of a clamp circuit 52 until a signal SC is stabilized from the start of driving the imaging apparatus so as to reduce a clamp time constant. On the other hand, after the signal SC is stabilized, the ON time of the switch element 52c is selected to be a comparatively shorter time in the ordinary state to increase the clamp time constant. Thus, a lateral noise caused following a noise in the case of a shorter clamp time constant can be suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
