The invention relates to water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsions containing (a) polyol poly-12-hydroxy stearates, (b) oil bodies selected from the group containing glycerides, hydrocarbons, silicon oils, dialkyl ethers and dialkyl carbonates, or mixtures of the same, and (c) 5-25 wt. % water. Said emulsions are characterised by exceptional softness and are suitable for use as body care agents, as well as impregnating and brightening agents for woven fabric, non-woven fabric and paper.
