PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain cost saving, structural space saving, and weight saving by making small compared with a conventional high frequency spark plug in a device for igniting a mixture of air and fuel in an internal combustion engine by an electric energy source of high frequency. SOLUTION: The spark plug comprises an axial waveguide structure 3 forming a resonator chamber and electric energy of high frequency can be supplied in the waveguide structure at a prescribed jointing part 7 provided at the end of an inner conductor 5 of the waveguide structure 3. The other end 5a of the inner conductor 5 of the waveguide structure 3 can enter into each combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, and at the other end 5a, microwave plasma is generated by high potential. By improving this type, cost saving, structural saving, and weight saving can be obtained. A supply line 8 can be axially jointed to the jointing part 7 in terms of induction and/or capacity and by this supply line, the electric energy is supplied into the resonator chamber.
