PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene-based polymer suppressed in developing a shark skin in undergoing extrusion molding despite its narrow molecular weight distribution, and to provide a method of efficiently producing the polyethylene-based polymer. SOLUTION: The polyethylene-based polymer is such one that the molecular weight distribution index(Mw/Mn) is 2-7, and the melt index(MI) determined at 190°C under a load of 2.16 kg and the melt viscosity determined at 190°C meet the relationship: 10<SP>6</SP>×(η<SB>0.1</SB>/η<SB>100</SB>)/η<SB>0</SB>>538.4×log[MI]+415 ( wherein,η<SB>100</SB>is dynamic melt viscosity at a frequency(ω) 100 rad/s;η<SB>0.1</SB>is dynamic melt viscosity at a frequency(ω) 0.1 rad/s; andη<SB>0</SB>is zero shearing viscosity ).
