A water effluent treatment process associated with metalworking has a water boiling vacuum evaporator tank incorporating a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is esp. made of plastic e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinylidene-fluoride. The heat exchanger pipes (14, 15) are movable and intertwine with each other. The heat exchanger is composed of modules located between self-supporting collectors secured by plastic screws. The boiler case (1) is also fabricated from plastic. Each secondary circuit within the vacuum evaporator assembly has two or more heat exchangers linked in series, at least one of which is made of plastic. All components in contact with the water are made of plastic.
