A device for driving an externally toothed gear-wheel 1 comprises a pinion 2 mounted in a trolley 3 which is supported from a fixed member 9 by means of an arm 7 and is guided by a roller 5 engaging a track 6 provided on gearwheel 1, the axis of roller 5 lying in a plane containing the axes of pinion 2 and gear-wheel 1. One end of the arm 7 is connected to member 9 by a ball-and-socket joint 8, and the other end of the arm 7 carries a pair of trunnions 10 which engage flanges 11 on the trolley 3. The axis of trunnions 10 is disposed in the medial plane of the pinion teeth and at right-angles to the pinion axis. Modified forms of the arm 7 are shown, such as arms 7a, 7c, 7d and 7e in Figs. 2, 4, 5 and 6. The single guide roller 5 may be replaced by two coaxial rollers. |
