PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle approach alarm system and a vehicle approach alarm method for inexpensively achieving the monitoring of the approach of a vehicle from various directions such as the front, rear, and side. SOLUTION: In the vehicle approach alarm system (1), a vehicle approach alarm device (15a) of an own vehicle determines whether the identification signal of a vehicle is being received from a vehicle approach alarm device (15b) of another vehicle or not when transmitting the identification signal of the own vehicle via antennas (10a, 11a, 12a). The vehicle approach alarm device (15a) transmits the identification signal of the own vehicle when the identification signal of another vehicle is not being received, or transmits the identification signal of the own vehicle after the reception completion of the identification signal if the identification signal of another vehicle is being received.
