PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric oscillator capable of being made smaller and thinner than a package composed of only a ceramic container or a resin container and provided with a structure strong against external stress. SOLUTION: A vibration element 2 is housed inside a metal container 4 whose upper surface is opened and can be tightly closed by a metallic cover 1 and the metal container 4 is joined so as to be included in the resin container 7 in which an oscillation circuit element 6 is housed. The metal container 4 and the resin container 7 are electrically connected by a connection electrode. Thus, by using a composite package composed of the metal container 4 and the resin container 7, a piezoelectric oscillator is miniaturized and thinned and the structure strong against the external stress from a horizontal direction and a vertical direction is provided.
