<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a printing process to be released from application software earlier. <P>SOLUTION: In this system, at the start of printing, the size of an available area in a RAM 11 is obtained. It is judged whether the size of total printing data transmitted from a hand-held personal computer to a color printer is larger than the obtained size of the available area or not. If it is judged that the size of total printing data is larger, the size of an available area in a memory card is obtained. It is then judged whether the obtained size of the available area is larger than the size of the total printing data or not.
