PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to efficiently manufacture an organic electroluminescent element (organic EL element) capable of forming an organic layer on a base board easily and excellent in the light emitting efficiency, brightness in light emission, and the durability. SOLUTION: The method to efficiently manufacture organic electroluminescent elements works with a transcribing material of such a structure that the organic layer is formed on a provisional support and consists of such processes as laying the transcribing material on the base board in such an arrangement that the organic layer side confronts the film formation surface of the base board, heating and/or pressurizing, and tearing off the provisional support so as to transcribe the organic layer onto the film formation surface of the base board, wherein the atmosphere in which the processes are to be conducted should be such that the water/moisture concentration is 100 ppm or less and the oxygen concentration is 100 ppm or less.
