PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic apparatus having substantially stable electrical, optical and photoconductive properties all the time nearly independently of use environment, further having excellent wear resistance, causing no partial unevenness in wear even in repeated use, and ensuring good image quality free of image flowing and unevenness. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic apparatus comprises a photoreceptive member whose surface layer comprises a non-monocrystalline film based on at least carbon atoms, an electrostatic charging means, an exposing means, a developing means, a transfer means and a cleaning means. The electrostatic charging means is a brush charging means and/or a roller charging means disposed in contact with the photoreceptive member, and the transfer means is an intermediate transfer member. The electrostatic charging means, the transfer means and the photoreceptive member have a relative speed difference. The dynamic hardness of the surface of the photoreceptive member is 4,900 to 12,750 N/mm<SP>2</SP>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
