PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide olefin polymerization catalysts showing excellent polymerization activity, a method for polymerizing olefin using the catalyst, new transition metal compounds useful for olefin polymerization catalyst andα-olefin conjugated diene copolymers with specific physical properties. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises (A) a transition metal compounds represented by formula (I) or (II) and (B) an organometallic compound, organic aluminumoxy compound or an ionizable compound which is ionized. The new transition metal compound is represented by formula (I) wherein M denotes a transition metal of group 4 or 5 of the Periodic Table; m denotes an integer of 1-3; R1denotes a hydrocarbon group or the like; R2-R5each denotes H, a halogen, a hydrocarbon group or the like; R6a denotes a halogen, a hydrocarbon group or the like; n denotes a number satisfying the valence of M; and X denotes a halogen, a hydrocarbon group or the like.
