PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a data file according to a file allocation table (FAT) system irrespective of the capacity of an information recording medium. SOLUTION: In a step S1, FAT blocks corresponding to a size to the capacity of a synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) for the FAT blocks are copied in the SDRAM for the FAT blocks in order from the head side out of the FATs recorded in the information recording medium. In a step S2, block numbers are recorded in control data generated corresponding to the FAT blocks of the SDRAM for the FAT blocks. In a step S3, the number of free clusters are counted. In the case there are the free clusters, the number and total capacity of the free clusters are recorded in a step S5, the cluster address of the first free cluster is recorded in a step S6, and a loading approval/disapproval flag set to approval is recorded in a step S7.
