<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission system and a method thereof which increases the number of programs with a smaller equipment investment. <P>SOLUTION: A combiner 1 combines digital images, a 64-QAM modulator 2 modulates a desired carrier in the analog CATV with combined signals, and a combiner 3 combines the modulated carrier with other similarly modulated carriers and sends it to an existing CATV network via the head end 4 of an existing analog CATV system. Thus the existing facilities are utilized as they are and a digital image transmission system may be partly added to greatly increase the number of programs, using the technique for streaming digital images. Previously stored commercial data in a subscriber terminal 6 can be reproduced within ten and several seconds to realize the improvement of the service for subscribers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
