Air conditioner comprises a housing (11) for defining an air channel (16, 17) through which air flows into the cabin of a vehicle, a heat exchanger (12, 13) arranged in the housing for carrying out a heat exchange between the air and fluid passing into the heat exchanger, an air outlet housing (27) having an air outlet opening section (28a, 28b, 29a-29d) from which air passing through the heat exchanger is blown into the cabin, an air outlet flap element (30, 31) arranged in the air outlet housing for opening and closing the air outlet opening section, and an adjusting part arranged in the air outlet housing for driving the air outlet flap element. The air outlet housing is detachedly connected to the air conditioner housing. Preferred Features: The air outlet flap element is a plate flap or a foil flap. The air outlet opening section consists of several air outlet openings separated from each other at different positions.
