PURPOSE: An automatic scarfing apparatus is provided which is capable of removing defects on the surface of slab more easily and uniformly by injecting flame onto the slab from a certain height and heating a larger area of the surface of the slab at the same time. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for automatically scarfing defects on the surface of slab comprises a transport part for horizontally transporting the slab by loading a slab to be scarfed on transfer car; a scarfing part which is arranged at an upper side of the transport part to scarf an upper surface of the slab, and at a lower front part of which at least a pair or oxygen and gas injecting appliances are installed; and a working monitoring part comprising at least one or more cameras (CF,CR) arranged at a lower one side of the scarfing part to observe the surface conditions of the slab, and at least one or more of display devices for displaying the surface conditions of the slab, wherein the scarfing part further comprises a wire feeder(26) connected to the scarfing part by a supporting frame with the wire feeder being spaced apart from a lower front end of the scarfing part in a certain distance, and the gas injection appliances comprise a pipe shaped first gas injection appliance(31) arranged between the front end of the scarfing part and the wire feeder to inject gas and oxygen to the wire feeder side; and second injection appliances comprising a plurality of oxygen and gas nozzles arranged along width of the scarfing part at a lower front end of the scarfing part to inject gas and oxygen to the wire feeder side, and wherein the scarfing part comprises a skid(42) installed on a lower side surface of the scarfing part and slidingly contacted with an upper surface of the slab.
