In an electric space heater, a lamp for producing the effect of glowing or to indicate that the heater is switched on is supported by a bracket removably inserted in an opening in the wall of the heater so that it can be slid into position to close the opening and be secured in that position with the lamp inside the heater or to a position in which it can be swung in contact with the wall to cause the lamp to project out of the heater. The bracket consists of an L-shaped member, the short arm 11, Fig. 3, of which carries the lamp holder 12. The long arm 15 has a transverse step 16 in each end of which a recess is cut and an open ended slot at the end opposite the arm 11. The bracket is fitted into an opening 21 in the bottom of the heater, having an end portion of reduced width to correspond to the width of the step 16 so that the bracket can be inserted in the main part and moved into position with the step engaging the reduced part. It can then be pivoted on the line of contact into the plane of the bottom and slid into place with the slot 18 engaging a securing screw. In a modification, the step 16, Fig. 7, has a slot 29 through which passes a tongue 28 projecting from one edge of the opening 21. In a further modification the opening and bracket are elliptical, the step extending across the minor axis of the ellipse. The bracket is inserted by an angular movement and secured by a bolt engaging a hook on one end of the bracket. A fan for producing a flecker effect may be mounted above the lamp so as to be rotated by rising currents of that air. |
