PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pile up object steel plates, which are taken in form of plates from a hot-rolled steel plate (a thick plate) and to be subjected to coating, in a temporarily storing place (a yard) in consideration of the next step. SOLUTION: In a coating method of steel plates to be coated by using a coating facility comprising a plurality of coating guns for coating the steel plates to be coated and coating material relay tanks for supplying coating materials to the coating guns in a proper number corresponding one to one for every hue, when a plurality of steel plates to be coated are piled up in a yard before coating, the steel plates whose coating requires hue species in a number equal to or less than the number of the coating guns are piled up in one pile.
