PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid reaction method by which neither 5-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid nor 6-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid is formed or 5-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid and 6-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid are formed in an undetectably small amount and a method for producing 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid using the reaction method. SOLUTION: The method for producing 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid comprises treating a solution containing L-ascorbic acid and anα-glucosyl saccharide compound with anα-isomaltosyl gluco glucide-forming enzyme or theα-isomaltosyl gluco glucide-forming enzyme and cyclomaltodextrin-glucanotransferase (EC2.4.1.19) to form 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid and collecting 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid.
