PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve I/O performance without largely changing an existing user program in technology of a file system for a parallel program. SOLUTION: The file system server part 6 is provided with a mode changeover part 63 changing over between a sequential mode rearranging and processing an access request to a file 8 in an address ascending order of the storage medium and a non-sequential mode processing the access request in an acceptance order. This method monitors the access request at a client node unit, when a request of accessing to the address ascending mode of the storage medium continues for a prescribed times or more from all the client node in the non-sequential mode, transfers it to the sequential mode, and when the access request of non-address ascending order of the storage medium comes from either of the client node in the sequential mode, shifts to the non-sequential mode.
