PURPOSE: A device for sensing wear of a brake lining for a vehicle is provided to let a driver know the time for replacement of the brake lining by sensing the relative motion between a switch mounted to an anchor bracket and an S-cam and making the switch contacted at a predetermined angle. CONSTITUTION: A brake assembly has a brake chamber into which compressed air is injected; a slack adjuster(2) pushed up by a push rod of the brake chamber; an S-cam shaft(3) connected to the slack adjuster, to drive an S-cam; an anchor bracket(7) connecting the slack adjuster and the S-cam shaft; a roller of a shoe coming in contact with the pressure surface of the S-cam shaft; a lining coming in contact with the inside of a brake drum by expansion of the shoe; and the brake drum covering the outside of the lining. In a device for sensing wear of the brake lining for a vehicle, a switch(6) is mounted to the anchor bracket, and a groove, pushing up the switch when the lining is worn, is formed to the S-cam shaft. In the early stage, a profile of the groove for sensing wear isn't in contact with the switch. If the lining is worn by friction between the lining and the drum, in braking, the rotational angle of the S-cam grows big. If the rotational angle of the S-cam becomes a predetermined value, the profile of the groove for sensing wear pushes up the switch and the switch is turned on.
