<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system capable of increasing system capacity by improving the receiving quality of a radio channel used in an up-link and a down-link. <P>SOLUTION: In this radio communication system comprising mobile stations, a plurality of base stations that use a plurality of antennas to form multiple beams and transmit and receive information, and a control station for governing the plurality of base stations, the base stations are provided with a multibeam receiving means for using multiple beams (multibeam) synthesized by giving fixed antenna weight to a signal for each antenna and receiving a radio signal of a common channel transmitted from the mobile stations, a receiving quality measuring means for measuring the receiving quality of the received radio signal of the common channel, a beam selecting means for selecting one or multiple beams among the multiple beams on the basis of the measured receiving quality, and a preamble signal directivity receiving means for using one or the multiple selected beams and receiving a preamble part of a random access signal transmitted from the mobile stations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
