PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy for a user to vocally input a number consisting of a plurality of digits and characters. SOLUTION: A number string recognized by a speech recognition engine 109 is held in a Y register in a right-aligned state (a). When the user indicates corrections of the recognized string, the number string stored in the Y register is stored in an X register in a left-aligned state (b). Then the speech recognition engine 109 recognizes a speech again and the recognized character string is held in the Y register in a right-aligned state (c, e); and processes (d, f) of merging the number string held in the Y register and the number string held in the X register so that numbers stored in the Y register are used for digits when numbers of the digits are stored in the Y register and numbers stored in the X register are used for digits when numbers of the digits are not stored in the Y register and storing the merging results in the X register are repeated until the corrections are completed and the number string finally stored in the X register is regarded as an input number string.
