An item of electrical equipment such as a battery charger used with a mobile telephone has a base into which is inserted a contact carrier (20). Projecting from the top section is an electrical contact plug (30) that is engaged by the mobile phone. The contact carrier has a profiled section that fits in a recess and allows a tilting action.
