<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil, having a long lifetime by adjusting the distance from the forward end of opening to the inclining face of a shock absorbing material, thereby relaxing the stresses to the epoxy resin and preventing cracks thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A secondary coil 3 and a primary coil 5 are arranged coaxially on the outside of a central core 1, and the gaps between the central core 1 and the secondary coil 3 and primary coil 5 are filled with epoxy resin. The rod-like central core 1 has a substantially octagonal cross-section and a shock absorbing resin tape 13 is applied to the outer circumferential surface thereof, except the opposite end parts in the longitudinal direction. A cap-like shock-absorbing material 14 is fixed to the opposite end parts of the central core 1 in the longitudinal direction. A center hole 2a of a secondary bobbin 2 inserted with the central core 1 is enlarged at the upper part via an inclining face 2b. The opening edge of the shock-absorbing material 14 is located at an enlarged part 2c close to the inclining face 2b, and the secondary coil 3 is provided with the center core 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
