The present invention relates to a method of diagnosing whether or not a subject has or is at risk of developing cancer by measuring the activity or expression levels of Clic3. The invention also relates to the treatment (including prophylactic treatment) of cancer using modulators of Clic3 and also to methods for identifying agents that may be used to treat cancer or agents that cause cancer.
