The gas valve has a housing (50) and an internal obturator operated by a handle (56) with stops to limit the opening movement of the handle. The stops include an abutment (60) and a counter stop (62) on a movable rotary section of the valve and the housing. The housing mounted stop can be angularly adjustable for optimum contact of the stop surfaces. Claims include a method of assembling the valve.
