PURPOSE: An in-plane switching mode LCD and a method for fabricating the same are provided to reduce the value of capacitance induced to resin BM by a voltage applied to data wires for improving the cross talk, thereby improving the screen quality. CONSTITUTION: In an in-plane switching mode LCD, resin black matrix(BM;310) on a first substrate(300) has a right end extended by several micrometers over common electrodes to completely cover the common electrodes(485) positioned at the right side of data lines(470). The extended part is thinner than a center part(1μm) which covers data lines. A left end of the resin BM ends at the left end of the common electrodes positioned at the immediately left side of the data lines and has a thickness of 1μm. The left end is further extended from that position by several micrometers with a thickness smaller than 1μm. The thin parts at both ends of the resin BM are formed simultaneously by diffraction exposure. |
