PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building and a construction method for the building in which a heat-insulating material can be installed easily at a low cost when an overhanging section such as a bay window, a suspended wall and an eave soffit are mounted. SOLUTION: In the building with the overhanging section 10, the suspended wall 20 secured at the front end of an overhanging floor 12 for the overhanging section 10 and the eave soffit 26 set up between the lower end of the wall 20 and an exterior wall 18, a cost required for a heat-insulating material can be made lower than conventional devices by the heat-insulating material fitted to the suspended wall because the heat-insulating material need not be installed to the wall 20 and the soffit 26 by attaching the heat-insulating material 16 into the floor 12. The problem that a time is taken for mounting the material 16 on the rear of the soffit 26 after the construction of the soffit 26 can be solved because the material 16 need not be secured to the soffit 26.
