PURPOSE:To obtain the titled coke of low cost because of no requirement of heating on kneading, free from tar odor, suitable for use in electric furnace, by blending pulverized coal composition and formed coal prepared by successively adding lime and waste treacle to feedstock coal followed by kneading and pressurized forming. CONSTITUTION:First, feedstock coal consisting mainly of low-grade coal is incorporated with, as a curing agent, pref. 2-4wt% of line (pref. containing >=60wt% of CaO) to carry out a kneading followed by addition of pref. 6-10wt% of waste treacle as a binder to the resultant blend and kneading followed by pressurized forming. Second, the formed coke above prepared is blended with pulverized coal composition comprising caking coal and low-grade coal followed by dry distillation of the resulting blend, thus obtaining the objective coke.
