CONTENTS SERVER, AND CONTENTS PROVIDING METHOD BY THE SERVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology or the like for distributing contents with a proper format without the need for a user to notify the format of contents.

SOLUTION: A reception section 102 receives a contents transmission request from a client. An investigation control section 104 investigates a processing function of the client. An instruction section 106 instructs a first processing section 108 for outputting the contents with a first format or a second processing section 110 for outputting contents with a second format to output the contents on the basis of the investigation result. A transmission section 112 transmits the contents outputted from the first processing section 108 or the second processing section 110 to the client. Thus, the user client needs not to select contents with a format in response to its decoder.
