PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately display or execute application software on the screen after acquiring the application software into a television receiver by downloading or the like by taking into consideration user's convenience. SOLUTION: This television receiver has a recording medium on which software is recorded and a file with information unique to the software written thereon is recorded, a display part for displaying contents of the file, a displaying means for displaying the contents of the file on the display part, a pointing means for designating a desired position on the display surface of the display part, and a recording medium for selecting by the pointing means desired software from media such as a telecommunication line, airwaves, and removable recording media through the media and recording the desired software on the recording medium. After the recording of the desired software onto the recording medium is completed, the completion of the recording to the recording medium is detected to immediately execute the software.
