PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel device whose power consumption can be reduced by lessening switching of address data. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for automatically controlling power of address data of a plasma display panel which includes many address electrodes and many scan electrodes and sustain electrodes which form pairs mutually and are arranged zigzag, the sum total of difference between respective lines of a video signal is calculated and an attenuation coefficient corresponding to the sum total of difference between respective lines is outputted and video data which are corrected by multiplying the attenuation coefficient by the video signal are outputted. According to such a power control of the address data, the power consumption is reduced since the switching of the address data is lessened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
