<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damages of a sliding component such as an inner ring or an outer ring having a cam surface of a one-way clutch in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A sliding component is manufactured by heating a stock sliding component which is machined out of a bearing steel in a predetermined shape for at least three hours at 840-870°C in a carburizing atmosphere with carbon potential of ≥ 1.2%, carburizing the component, and quenching the component. The total carbon content of a surface layer part in a matrix in a range of the depth of 0.5 mm from the surface of the sliding component is set to be 1.0-1.6 wt.%, and the solid solution carbon content in the matrix of the surface layer part is set to be 0.6-1.0 wt.%. Spheroidal carbide is deposited on the surface layer part to set the content and the grain size of spheroidal carbide to be 5-20% by area ratio, and ≤ 3μm, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
