PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery case for a sealed storage battery having an excellent steam barrier property, capable of restraining evaporation of moisture in an electrolyte in the battery, and of extending the service lives of an electrode plate and the battery. SOLUTION: This battery case for a sealed storage battery is provided with a layer containing a liquid crystalline polymer A showing optical anisotropy in melting. In one embodiment, the battery case for a sealed storage battery is provided with a layered product comprising the layer containing the liquid crystalline polymer A showing optical anisotropy in melting, and a layer containing thermoplastic resin B. In another embodiment of the battery case for a sealed storage battery, the liquid crystalline polymer A showing optical anisotropy in melting is a liquid crystal polyester resin composition comprising liquid crystal polyester C as a continuous phase, and a copolymer D, as a dispersed phase, having a functional group having reactivity with liquid crystal polyester.
