PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an amide compound in high yield by the Beckmann rearrangement of an oxime compound in a liquid phase under a mild reaction condition. SOLUTION: The method for the production of an amide compound comprises the rearrangement of a≥8C oxime compound in an organic solvent in the presence of a catalyst component containing an acid anhydride. The rearrangement reaction is carried out by adjusting the molar ratio of the sum of water in the oxime compound and the solvent to the added acid anhydride to≤15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
