PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a junction type surface mount crystal oscillator with a small height and having high density terminals. SOLUTION: The surface mount crystal oscillator configured by mounting an IC chip to the rear side of a crystal vibrator formed by hermetically sealing a crystal chip to a package body made of layered ceramic and providing a mount frame to the outer circumference of the body is configured such that the mount frame has a step in on inner wall face and provided with a plurality of connection terminals to the flat face of the step, the connection terminals and the terminals of the IC chip are wire-bonded, and mounting purpose metal balls are provided to the outer circumference of the mount frame.
