Bores in the needle (4) board (3) are increasingly inclined, the further their locations from the notional central plane (O). This (O) intersects the board longitudinal axis centrally and at right angles. Inclination increases linearly with distance from the central plane. At the needle holding sections, the rear side has convex curvature. This curvature is constant. The needle board is deformed elastically when fixed to the needle bar (1), causing it to curve accordingly. The curvature is alternatively formed by an intermediate curved spacer, the board initially having plane parallel needle opening surfaces. The board is curved resiliently for mounting, it relaxes to a plane configuration, to rest against the needle bar when installed. A curved board in the unloaded state adopts a plane configuration under the influence of moment of inertia forces. A corresponding needle bar is also claimed. To drill the holes, the board is first curved resiliently. An independent claim is included for the method of drilling the needle holes in the needle board.
|
