PURPOSE: A method for preparing hydroxyapatite powder by using hard precipitated calcium carbonate refined from waste shell generated from ostreiculture as a starting raw material is provided, and hydroxyapatite powder prepared by the method is provided. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing hydroxyapatite powder using hard precipitated calcium carbonate refined from shell comprises a reaction step of directly reacting the dispersed hard precipitated calcium carbonate powder with a phosphoric acid solution for about 8 hours after dispersing hard precipitated calcium carbonate powder into a solvent of distilled water; a drying step of drying powder produced in the reaction step; and a heat treatment step of heat treating the dried powder at 1,250 deg.C for about one hour, wherein the hard precipitated calcium carbonate is refined from shell, and wherein the quantity of phosphoric acid added in the reaction step is about 0.6 M of phosphoric acid for one mole of the hard precipitated calcium carbonate powder.
