PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for setting a call between a wired/wireless telephone and a VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone are provided to make a call between an origination-side wired/wireless telephone and a termination-side VoIP telephone by setting the call between the origination-side wired/wireless telephone and the termination-side VoIP telephone corresponding to an extension number and mutually converting a PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) signal of a wired/wireless communication network and a VoIP signal of an IP network. CONSTITUTION: A PCM line switch(205) connects selected PCM lines among PCM lines of a private exchange equipment(201) and a voice codec converter(209) according to a switching control signal. A DTMF(Dual Tone Multi Frequency) tone generator(207) provides a signal according to a call setup procedure to the private exchange equipment(201) according to a control signal. The voice codec converter(209) converts a PCM signal inputted from the PCM line switch(205) into a voice digital signal, and outputs the voice digital signal. The voice codec converter(209) converts an inputted voice digital signal into a voice PCM signal, and outputs the voice PCM signal to the PCM line switch(205) through the corresponding PCM line. If a calling signal is sensed from the specific PCM line among the extension PCM lines of the private exchange equipment(201), a control unit sets a call with the private exchange equipment(201). The control unit sets a VoIP call between VoIP telephones corresponding to the extension PCM lines through an IP network(111). The control unit generates the control signal, and connects the corresponding PCM line of the voice codec converter(209) with the extension PCM line of the private exchange equipment(201). The control unit processes the voice digital signal outputted from the voice codec converter(209), converts the voice digital signal into VoIP format data, and transmits the VoIP format data to the VoIP telephone through the IP network(111). The control unit processes VoIP format data received from the VoIP telephone, extracts a voice digital signal, and transmits the voice digital signal to the voice codec converter(209).
