1,046,341. Street cleaning apparatus. BERTIN & CIE. Feb. 6, 1964 [Feb. 6, 1963], No. 5066/64. Heading E1G. A vacuum street cleaning apparatus mountable on a standard vehicle has a bed 4 supporting a motor 5 driving a fan 6 having outlet filters 17 and inlet filters 8, 12, the latter comprising two bins relatively adjustable for height to suit the supporting vehicle, and a suction nozzle 14. The bins 8, 12 have corresponding openings and may be secured together, with the imposition of a fluid tight packing piece, by bolts 13 engaging a series of holes. The suction nozzle 14 is articulated to the bin 12 and extends to the full width of a driven brush 15, which may have flexible lips to the surrounding casing. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the suction nozzle 14a extends forward and is supported by a wheel 20. The nozzle is extended by a flexible diaphragm, 23 backed by an apertured plate 24, to produce a venturi 26 increasing suction at the road surface. |
