1,046,737. Moulding polyethylene. HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc. June 7, 1963 [June 14, 1962], No. 22775/63. Heading B5A. A process for converting ethylene to polyethylene in shaped form comprises polymerizing ethylene under elevated temperature and pressure, separating the melted polymer and melt-extruding it, and converting the resulting material directly into the desired shaped solid form. In the described example molten polymer is passed directly from the melt-extruder to a film extruder. Alternatively the polymer may be shaped to form tubes, sheets, rods, beams, cups, bottles, and bottle caps.
