PURPOSE: A paper conveying unit used in an ink jet printer is provided to improve a printing speed of the ink jet printer by continuously rotating a drive roller and a paper discharge roller in one direction even if a rotational direction of a feed roller is changed. CONSTITUTION: A paper conveying unit includes a drive gear(31), a feed gear(41), a paper discharge gear(51) and a power transmission unit(70). The drive gear(31) is coaxially coupled with a shaft(33) of a drive roller. The paper discharge gear(51) is coaxially coupled with a shaft(53) of a paper discharge roller. The feed gear(41) is coaxially coupled with a shaft of a feed roller(40). The power transmission unit(70) includes a first intermediate gear(68) engaged with the drive gear(31), a swing gear clutch(60) installed between the feed gear(41) and the first intermediate gear(68), a second intermediate gear(69) engaged with the paper discharge gear(51), and a rotational force transmission unit for connecting the first intermediate gear(68) to the second intermediate gear(69).
