PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing optically active cis-enriched cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters represented by general formula (4) (wherein R5and R6are each an alkyl or the like). SOLUTION: This production method for optically active cyclopropane carboxylic acid esters shown by general formula (4) comprises reacting diazoacetic acid esters shown by general formula (2): N2CHCO2R5with olefins represented by general formula (3) in the presence of an asymmetric copper catalyst obtained by reacting a copper compound with optically active saldimines (salicylaldimines) shown by general formula (1) (wherein R1is a halogen or the like; R2is H or the like; R3is a lower alkyl or the like; R4is a 4-10C alkoxy; and (*) denotes an asymmetric carbon).
