PROCESS OF MAKING COPOLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process of making a copolymer containing in a high content of a monomer unit derived from a polar olefin by polymerizing a nonpolar olefin and a polar olefin under a mild polymerization condition by controlling a molecular weight and a molecular distribution. SOLUTION: The copolymer bearing a monomer unit derived from a polar olefin in a high content is produced by copolymerizing a nonpolar olefin(component(D)) and a polar olefin(component(E)) in the presence of polymerization initiation system(component(B)) composed of a metal complex component (component (A)) carrying as a central metal ruthenium and/or iron and of an organic halogen compound. Use of a Lewis acid or an amine compound (component(C)) at the same time is preferable for further acceleration of the polymerization. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
