AMINE FUNCTIONAL COPOLYMER AND ITS PREPARATION PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amine functional copolymer with improved discoloration and odor, and an easily operable process for production of the amine functional copolymer as a powder by an effective hydrolysis of N-vinylcarboxyamide copolymer. SOLUTION: The amine functional copolymer exhibits Gardner index of 3 or less for its 10 wt.% aqueous solution determined according to ASTM D1544 and can be prepared by hydrolysis of N-vinylcarboxyamide copolymer in the presence of an acidic or a basic catalyst in an aqueous medium with a dissolved salt.
