PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chuck wherein slip of a shank is prevented, and detachment from the chuck is carried out by one touch when the angular shank of a tool is clamped and rotated/driven by the chuck. SOLUTION: A hole 1a of an angular cross section inserted with the angular shank 9 of hexagonal cross section is formed on a driving shaft on an axis of the chuck. A rock ball retaining hole 1a is provided at a predetermined position at a front side and a rock ball 3 is projectably retained to a central axis side and a positioning member 4 of the shank is stored in a depth part of the hole 1a. A slide sleeve 2 is fitted to the driving shaft 1 and a conical slope 2c is formed on an inner surface at a front side. A spring 5 is urged by a sleeve cap 2b thread-inserted to a rear part of the sleeve 2 and the rock ball 3 is pressed by the slope 2c. The shank is rocked/attached by only inserting the shank 9 into the hole 1a while having the sleeve cap 2b. On the other hand, the attachment/detachment of the shank to the chuck is carried out in a single operation by forwardly pulling the sleeve 2 and releasing the pressing of the rock ball, respectively.
