In a process to spin and impart a texture to a synthetic multifilament fiber, the fiber is first spun from a polymer hotmelt, cooled texturized. The fiber is then esp. texturized for a second time and than wound onto a spool. Prior to the texturization process, the thread is pre-stretched. The texturization process takes place within a push gathering-chamber also containing a hot fluid. The gathered thread is then fed through a cool fluid prior to relaxation. Prior to the second texturization process, the thread is again stretched and subjected to vortex action. After the second texturization stage, the thread is again exposed to vortex action. Also claimed is a commensurate spinning assembly (1) with a cooling shaft (5), a primary texturizing (7), a secondary texturizing unit (8) and a spool-winding unit (17)
